My name is Nick, and The Tin Lantern is the realisation of my dream to own an oceanside retreat in the rugged state of Tasmania, Australia. This dream was realised in 2016 when I purchased The Tin Lantern, which was soon shared with others via Airbnb. Sailing paraphernalia including flags, maps, books and bells around the house are from my transoceanic voyages across the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, aboard my small boats named Constellation & Harmony. Books & magazines within the house have been collected from around the world over the last decade.
About The Tin Lantern
The Tin Lantern is a 3bdr two storey house overlooking Pirates Bay and beyond to Antarctica. Located in Eaglehawk Neck, just an hour from Hobart & 45mins from the airport, The Tin Lantern sits back on a forested 2.5 acre property with expansive views of the ocean, The Hippolyte's and The Lanterns.
The Tin Lantern is a place for dreamers, stargazers, hikers, divers, thinkers and surfers. Sit next to fireplace or on the deck, read books & magazines from my extensive collection, explore the rugged Tasman Peninsula, or just reflect & reset over tea.
The space is full of books across a range of topics and subjects, from sailing, mountaineering & literature to philosophy and photography. The Tin Lantern has active subscriptions to The New Yorker, Aesthetica, Suitcase, Smith Journal, The Alpine Review, & Sidetracked.
Take a look at the Features Page for a full rundown on the house.
